Principal Product Manager
We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the development of user-facing AI experiences across CNN's digital platforms. This is a senior, high-impact individual contributor role, responsible for shaping and executing the vision for how AI enhances how users engage with CNN contentwhether through summarization, personalization, conversational interfaces, or intelligent discovery. This is not a "back-end AI" product role. It's about reinventing the user experience through AI. You'll play a key role in shaping CNN's identity as an AI-era news platform, ensuring that our innovations serve both audience needs and editorial values.
The ideal candidate will combine strong product strategy skills, deep technical fluency in AI technologies (especially LLMs and recommender systems), and sharp editorial instincts. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, design, editorial, data science, and legal teams to deliver experiences that are useful, trusted, and distinctly CNN. Your Role Accountabilities...
Develop and articulate a bold, user-centered product vision for how AI can enhance CNN's digital experience, from content discovery to comprehension to personalization.
Own the roadmap for AI-driven features that directly touch the userexamples may include smart recaps, dynamic homepages, personalized video feeds, conversational news agents, and generative explainers.
Collaborate across functions, serving as a connective thread between editorial partners, design, engineering, AI research, growth, and legal teams.
Translate abstract technical possibilities into clear, actionable product requirements that balance innovation, risk, feasibility, and user value.
Establish clear success metrics and experimentation frameworks to evaluate the impact of AI-driven experiences on engagement, satisfaction, and trust.
Serve as a thought leader on responsible AI practices in journalismhelping to define what transparency, bias mitigation, and human-in-the-loop editorial oversight mean at CNN.
Qualifications & Experience...
15+ years in product management with a proven track record of launching innovative consumer-facing products.
3+ years working with AI / ML technologies, including experience with large language models, recommendation systems, or generative interfaces.
Strong understanding of AI fundamentals and their application in product experiences; comfort partnering with technical leads and data scientists.
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a highly cross-functional environment.
Exceptional communication skills, especially in translating technical complexity into stakeholder-aligned narratives.
Deep empathy for news consumers and a sharp editorial sense; passion for making news more accessible, relevant, and impactful.
Experience working in a mission-driven or regulated environment (media, health, education, etc.) is a strong plus.
