POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, provides nursing care for a group of patients assigned to the nurse based on matching the patients’ needs with the nurse’ competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE : Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
REQUIRED COURSES / COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR) :
- Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (LABOR & DELIVERY)
- Should be completed before the end of the orientation period
- AHA NRP must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (LABOR & DELIVERY or any nurse floated into L&D)
- Should be completed before the end of the orientation period
- Fetal Monitoring - L&D and Antepartum : Novice RNs are required to complete GNOSIS introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring with 30 days from hire date or transfer date into unit and AWHONN Intermediate Heart Monitoring with 8 months of L&D Orientation. Experienced L&D RNs (>
1 yr experience) must have AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring on hire or within the first 90 days of hire,
S.T.A.B.L.E. – Level 2 Nursery-Must provide proof of prior completion or obtain within 6 months of hire or transfer date into unit (Renewal is not required).AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role (PEDIATRICS)#LI-AG1
