Job Summary

Provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients and perform nursing procedures within the scope of your education and abilities.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
• Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
• Review and, under supervision, modify the plan of care based on the nursing plan of care.
• Observe and record signs, symptoms, behaviors, and physiological status; propose revisions of interventions and outcomes.
• Deliver nursing interventions consistent with the medical plan of care.
• Notify staff of changes in patient status; recognize priorities and potential crises.
• Follow physician's orders in nursing care delivery.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and properly.
• Execute physician's orders for patients.
• Prepare equipment and supplies for procedures; assist with procedures or treatments.
• Follow infection control, isolation, and aseptic techniques.
• Document nursing care in patient records.
• Follow internal controls and reporting structures.
• Perform related duties as required.

Additional Information

Equipment : Standard patient care supplies and equipment.

Work Environment : Located within a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Security clearance and pre-employment drug testing required.

Required Education / Experience : High school diploma or equivalent, graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program, current Texas license / permit, and current BLS-HP certification. No experience required.

This position is non-benefit eligible, limited to 19 hours / week.
