Job Description Job Description Mid-Level Litigation Associate (Contract / 1099) - Vestige Law, PLLC Houston, TX About Us Vestige Law, PLLC is a boutique Houston firm focused on complex business disputes. Our docket spans commercial and real estate litigation, business divorces and partnership breakups, eminent domain, software and technology disputes, construction-defect matters, trade-secret and unfair-competition claims, and related business torts. We don't do assembly-line motion practice-every case gets a tailored strategy. The Role We're looking for a mid-level associate who can take ownership of a litigation docket from day one with minimal supervision, while still valuing mentorship and collaboration. The work is highly fact- and strategy-driven. You'll often face problems without a ready-made template and will be expected to say, I don't have the answer yet-but I'll figure it out, and then do exactly that. What You'll Do Manage cases end-to-end : pleadings, discovery, motion practice, hearings, mediations, and trial support. Develop litigation strategies that are bespoke to each matter. Draft crisp, persuasive briefs backed by rigorous research. Communicate proactively with clients and colleagues; keep matters moving without hand-holding. What You'll Bring 3-6 years of civil-litigation experience (Texas practice preferred). Excellent legal research and writing-clear, efficient, and persuasive. Strong tech fluency appropriate to 2025 (Word, PDFs, e-filing, and everyday productivity tools without tutorials). Professionalism with an upbeat, steady demeanor under pressure; you recognize and manage your own stress so clients never feel it. A builder's mindset : creative, resourceful, and comfortable operating without templates. Compensation & Structure 1099 contractor , paid on collected billable hours at $100-$125 / hour (DOE). Uncapped earning potential-your commission scales with your output. Flexible workflow with access to mentorship and case collaboration. How to Apply Email a brief cover-letter style note and résumé to mathomas@vestige.law . To show you read this posting carefully, include a short paragraph describing a complex problem you solved without a template and why your approach worked. (Applicants who simply click apply without this will not be prioritized.) If your instincts are strategic, your writing is sharp, and you thrive on solving hard problems, we'd love to hear from you.
