Overview

Samaritan Daytop Village, Inc. is hiring an Addiction Counselor. The role involves managing a caseload of substance use disorder patients, providing individual and group counseling, conducting assessments, coordinating services, psycho-education, and maintaining documentation. The Addiction Counselor Assistant provides administrative and case management support within residential programs.

Schedule

Sunday–Thursday 1pm–9pm or Tuesday–Saturday 1pm–9pm

Compensation

$29.12 – $32.41 per hour. Up to a $3k sign-on bonus.

The Role

Under general direction, the Addiction Counselor is an integral member of the clinical team and serves as the primary counselor to a caseload of substance use disorder patients. The Addiction Counselor will manage a caseload of patients, provide individual and group counseling, conduct an assessment, and coordinate services, psycho-education, and referrals, in addition to keeping all required documentation up to date.

Additionally, the Addiction Counselor Assistant will provide administrative and case management support within the residential treatment programs. Tasks may include completing sample swabs, screenings, orientation, intake, psycho-education, referrals, reporting and recordkeeping, co-facilitating groups, and basic crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Develops a treatment plan in concert with the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor that reflects an understanding of specialized Track issues as related to physical, medical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs and specific diagnosis.
• Uses a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work with patients and treatment team members to support treatment and recovery.
• Provides clinical consultation to referral resources, mentors, family members, and others to support patients in recovery.
• Engages patients in decision-making and helps them understand benefits of assessment and appropriate level of care.
• Collects and reviews referral information and coordinates scheduling of patient interviews.
• Based on assessments, makes referrals to appropriate programs and agencies to meet treatment needs.
• Assists patients with scheduling admissions or first appointments at referred programs.
• Monitors patient access to treatment and addresses barriers to care.
