American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with at least 2 years of med / surg experience for a night shift float pool position requiring an active ND or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital acute care setting within the Med / Surg Float Pool

Patient population includes surgical (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical cases such as CHF, CVA, respiratory, and diabetic conditions

Unit has 61 combined beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 5 on days and 1 : 6 on nights

12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required

Floating is required within med / surg departments

Use of Epic charting system

CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment used

Telemonitoring present; monitor techs read strips with RN confirmation

Responsibilities include caring for a mix of medical and surgical patients in a float pool environment

Dress code allows any scrub color

Orientation includes both general travel onboarding and unit-specific float checklist

Support provided by nurse aides, with ratios up to 1 : 15

Every other holiday must be worked as assigned

Candidates may not have been employed directly by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year

First-time travelers will be considered

Requirements

Active ND or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration

Minimum 2 years of recent med / surg experience required

Current BLS certification required

Experience in acute hospital med / surg setting matching unit expectations

Ability to confirm telemonitoring strips

Must provide two professional references : one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
