JOB SUMMARY :
Perform routine maintenance on state and county highways, right of ways, highway safety appurtenances, buildings and grounds.

Required to hold certain WCHA Operation and Maintenance Skills Test Certifications for the machinery and equipment operated including Skid-steer Loader, Front End Loader, Pavement Router / Joint Cleaner, Broce Sweeper / Broom, Seeder / Mulcher, and Generator / Compressor.
Flagging traffic during maintenance, construction, repair, and emergency response incidents.
Perform all routine and emergency maintenance tasks related to specific sections or regions of the county to include but not limited to the following activities;
Mowing
Mechanical and hand method clearing, brushing, and grubbing of trees, brush, and other vegetative debris
Spray herbaceous control methods
Snow fence installation and removal
Picking up litter, trash, and debris along the roadways and right of way
Repairing, installing, and maintaining fences
Patching potholes and cracks with paving materials
Filling, repairing, and maintaining shoulders
And other assigned tasks

Drives single axle, tandem axle, and tri-axle trucks whether for plowing snow, winging snow, and spreading salt products during winter storm responses or other tasks.
Must be available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week on nights, holidays, and weekends to respond to weather related emergencies or other incidents related to maintenance of the highways.
Must demonstrate regular and dependable attendance
Assists with all preventative maintenance and construction activities including but not limited to sealcoating, crackfilling, asphalt paving, pulverization, shouldering, placing culverts, long-line pavement marking, and other duties as depicted in the various crew daily Duty Descriptions.
Assist the various crews in the performance of general laborer work for the daily duties for each of their respective tasks : Road Oil, Road Construction, Pavement Marking, and Maintenance Patrol.
Assist with daily care, upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance and operations of various pieces of equipment and trucks keeping them in a neat, clean, orderly, and safe operating condition.

Assist with routine maintenance activities on trucks and equipment as assigned by the Shop Lead-person, Highway Operations Manager, or Highway Commissioner.

Perform any other duties as assigned.
