Summary
Assistant Teacher, Part-time (2 days / week, 8 : 00-4 : 00)
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Administrator, Director and Lead Teacher in operating the child care program in a manner that contributes to the growth and development of children. The Assistant Teacher is professionally prepared as a teacher of young children. The Assistant Teacher is a warm, sensitive, mature individual who relates well to children and adults.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a High School diploma or GED
- Must have 3 months or more experience in working with children and / or equivalent early childhood education experience

Responsibilities / Duties
Cooperating with licensing staff and other appropriate agencies in maintaining compliance with requirements and in improving the quality of careMaintaining a physical environment, including upkeep of equipment, that conforms to DCFS licensing standards of safety and cleanliness and that is conducive to optimal growth and development of children who attend the program and the well-being of all involved in the childcare center activitiesObtaining the required training hours annually to meet the requirements by DCFS licensingAssist with the development of plans for day-to-day activities and schedules, including all aspects of children’s time at the center and is a part of the staff to child ratioResponsible for assessment and constant supervision of children at all times to ensure safetyAssist in maintaining progress records of each child’s growth and developmentAttend promptly to children’s personal hygiene needsDevelop rapport with children, parents, and co-workersWork with parents to promote understanding of their child’s growth and developmentAttend parent meetings as requestedPrepare snacks as directedPerform clean up duties and proper sanitation.Keep all client information confidential.Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and / or Lead TeacherRequirements

Must be at least 18 years of ageMust have a High School diploma or GEDMust have 3 months or more experience in working with children and / or equivalent early childhood education experienceQualifications(Lead Teacher)
Must be at least 18 years of ageHave obtained the qualifications at Level 8 or higher on the RegistryMust meet Department of Children and Family requirements for position heldPhysical Requirements
Must be able to :
Lift up to 50lbsPush emergency equipment with up to 40 lbs of weightRepetitive bending, stretching, and stoopingHave mobility required to ensure the safety of the childrenWork with children on the floorWork outdoors in any variety of weatherAble to have visual or hearing capabilities consistent with Child Care Licensing safety requirementHave mobility required to participate in walking field trips of up to 3 miles round tripHave mobility to use public and private (bus) transportation
