Junior Tax Associate

Elmira, New York

Insero Talent Solutions is thrilled to partner with a growing financial services firm in the Southern Tier in search of a Junior Tax Associate to join their team.

The Associate will support the preparation and filing of tax returns, assist with tax research and compliance, and ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations. This position includes reviewing and preparing bookkeeping records to ensure accuracy and completeness for tax season readiness.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the preparation of Federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
  • Provide support in all aspects of the tax planning process to assist management, including ensuring timely and accurate tax payments.
  • Conduct basic tax research on current tax laws and regulations.
  • Review client bookkeeping for accuracy and completeness in preparation for tax return processing.
  • Prepares or reviews bookkeeping records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with tax reporting requirements for clients receiving bookkeeping or tax services. Responsibilities include preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining accounts payable and receivable, processing bill payments, and performing bank reconciliations for select clients to ensure year-end readiness for tax preparation.
  • Assist with audits and respond to notices from tax authorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economic degree - with tax coursework.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in tax and tax planning.
  • Familiarity with professional tax software such as Lacerte, CCH or GoSystem Tax RS.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks desktop and online.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong client and customer service mentality.
