Staff Transmission Line Engineer
The Transmission & Distribution team is seeking a Staff Transmission Line Engineer to support our expanding operations in the Akron, Columbus, and St. Louis offices. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will take ownership of their work and contribute to the success of both the team and our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Design high- and extra-high-voltage (69500 kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD .
Develop detailed construction packages, including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation assembly drawings.
Prepare project specifications and design criteria documents.
Provide technical support and oversight during field construction activities.
Foster and maintain strong client relationships while offering technical mentorship to junior engineers.
Contribute to the advancement of design standards and best practices within the team.
Support other engineering tasks as required.
Occasional travel to project or client sites may be necessary.
Experience with HVDC systems is considered a plus.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a Bachelors in Engineering Technology with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
A Masters degree in Civil Engineering may substitute for one year of professional experience.
Minimum 3 years of transmission line design experience .
Proficient in written and verbal communication, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Experience with project scheduling and budgeting .
Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Consulting or utility experience preferred.
