Unit : Operating Room (OR)
General Information :
 The OR staff provides comprehensive perioperative care across a broad range of specialties.
 Multidisciplinary collaboration ensures effective care for complex and diverse surgical needs.
 Staff should be comfortable handling a fast-paced environment with a variety of patient
populations, including pediatrics and critical care patients.
Unit Details :
 Average Daily Cases : 30-50
 Types of Procedures :
o General
o ENT (adults)
o Orthopedic : Total knees, hips, and shoulders
o Plastics : Including flap procedures
o Abdominal and bowel resections, Whipple procedure
o D&C and hysterectomies
o Gastric sleeves
o Podiatry
o Neurological : Craniotomies and other neuro cases
o Back surgeries
o Urology : Cysto and stent placements
Preoperative Area :  Beds : 9
 Patient Population :
o Older children (1+ year)
o Adults
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) :
 Bays : 13
 Special Notes :
o ICU patients remain on a vent in PACU until they can be transferred.
o CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) patients may bypass PACU and go directly to the
unit if stable.
o Pediatric patients :
 Tubes are typically discharged same-day.
 Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy patients stay overnight.
OPCU (Outpatient Care Unit) :
 Bays : 5
 Additional Chair Bay : 1 (half bay)
 Common Cases : o IVIG
o Blood transfusions
o GI cases
o Bronchoscopies
o CVI cases
o Vascular cases
o Any cases not requiring general anesthesia
