Sr. Cost Accountant
Cost Accountants specialize in the accounting of product costs recognized in cost of sales and inventory. Varex Imaging (VREX) operates manufacturing plants or service depots in the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. Reporting to the Inventory Controller located at Salt Lake City, UT Corporate Headquarters, the Sr. Cost Accountant will work with a global team of Cost Accountants to support local and global business operations.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage Excess & Obsolescence with global operations teams, checks for stranded and orphaned inventory, performs schedules.
- Analyze the cost of materials, labor, overheads, and other direct or indirect costs associated with products or services.
- Coordinate maintenance of standard cost data, and accounts for manufacturing variances, scrap, rework cost, excess & obsolescence, and product returns through direct engagement of our production teams and produces internal metrics to enhance understanding and establish action items to aid in the control of these costs.
- Interact with departments and procedures within the cost accounting function to study and assist in recommending and implementing process improvements.
- Provide cost accounting support to global subsidiaries.
- Work with warranty, capitalized variances, material recovery, non-conformance, intercompany, wall to wall physical, cycle count reliance, and other related inventory matters.
- Assist with resolution of Intercompany and 3rd party (GRIR / RNV).
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, company policies, and industry regulations. Assist in internal and external audits related to cost accounting.
- Prepare month end and year end closing entries and reconciliations.
- Contribute to Internal Reporting through the creation and distribution of monthly reports.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in accounting.
CMA or CPA preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and all Microsoft products, experience with SAP preferred.
Innate systems thinker that collaborates across the organization to facilitate business process innovation and continuous improvement.
Ability to both identify issues and the self-motivation to research and implement solution to resolution.
Preferred Candidate will have 8 years of related experience or 6 years of related experience plus Master's degree.
Environment and Physical Requirements :
Occasionally require employee to lift / move up to 25 lbs.Occasionally require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment and / or supplies.Occasionally require reaching above and below the shoulder.No agility and dexterity with the ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools. Just dexterity to use a keyboard.Work environments includes : limited exposure to chemicals, electrical current, proximity to moving mechanical parts, repetitive hand motion, open flame, working from heights, cold environment, hot environment, uneven surface, fumes.Travel to sites occasionally is possible.
