Wage : $22 / hour

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE / JOB CODE : Vocational Rehabilitative Specialist

❖ POSITION STATEMENT : This position oversees the overall development, organization, implementation, and operation of the agency’s youth vocational program.

❖ RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB AND ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS :

➢ Assists in developing career, technical education and work experience programs for youth in conjunction with the agency’s education staff, school supervisor and management team.

➢ Develops and maintains healthy, productive working relationships with local agencies and business partners to assist in creating vocational opportunities for youth.

➢ Develops and manages planning, oversight and supervision of youth in the Transition / Vocation program and ensures programming supports both PDE and other accredited bodies that Abraxas is affiliated by.

➢ Initiates, guides, and ensures communication and coordination between the school, Transition / Vocation program, and clinical and business staff within the agency to ensure youth needs are integrated with the treatment and educational processes.

➢ Initiates, guides, and ensures communication and coordination between the schools, licensing agencies, and funding sources.

➢ Coordinates, implements, and oversees career and technical education and work experiences.

➢ Ensures effective oversight and supervision of youth in the conduct of work programming to include outdoor / indoor maintenance, greenhouse and / or other vocational programs implemented.

➢ Ensures compliance with all work rules and labor laws for agency youth.

➢ Collects and reports data on the agency’s youth work program for student job portfolios and court reports.

➢ Develops and implements policies and procedures to support the operation of the youth work program and community.

➢ Develops and implements educational programs and groups to educate youth and staff regarding the purpose and policies of the youth work program.

➢ Works closely with clinical supervisors, caseworkers, and the agency business manager to ensure that all youth involved in work program fulfill expectations.

➢ Tracks and reports youth work hours as required.

➢ Assesses student portfolios and their successful completion and presentation in the dorms.

➢ Participates in developing effective team, directs and supports employees and co-workers, and provides feedback and mentoring.

➢ Plans, organizes and facilitates job placements, coordinates workflow and communicates action plans consistently with team members.

➢ Role models and teaches effective supervision and management of clients, interacts meaningfully with clients, and observes client behavior and intervenes appropriately.

➢ Ensures effective people security including headcounts, room checks, and client movements.

➢ Maintains confidentiality of information as it relates to client information.

➢ Implements and mentors employees regarding Abraxas policies on professional expectations, code of conduct and other practices and procedures, serves as a role model for clients and employees, and supports the company’s mission, goals and objectives.

➢ Responsible for effective use of resources within budgetary limitations.

➢ Ensures the safety and security of clients and facility.

➢ Ensures implementation of Environment of Care program and infection control practices.

➢ Demonstrates leadership during emergency procedures.

➢ Addresses client grievances as appropriate. .

➢ Participates the teaching and support of clients in the Transition / Vocation Program.

➢ Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.

➢ Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

❖ MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • The following educational requirements are acceptable for this classification including :
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of (2) two years of related experience;
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Other Qualifications :

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Pre-employment background checks (Criminal, Federal, State, Child Abuse), physical exam, and drug screen.
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends to meet clients and family’s needs.
  • NETWORK FUNCTIONS :

    ➢ Maintain and abides by OSHA requirements and guidelines

    ➢ Observes all Fire and Safety Policies and Procedures

    ➢ Observes all Personnel Policies and Procedures

    ➢ Observes all Agency Policies and Procedures

    ➢ Observes all HIPAA Policies and Procedures and maintains confidentiality

    ➢ Completes and returns all paperwork distributed by the Human Resource Department

    ➢ Attends all required and scheduled trainings and meetings

    ➢ Maintains a professional demeanor and exercise good professional judgment in all areas of employment duties

    ➢ Documents time worked accurately

    ❖ PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    ➢ Individual must be able to meet physical requirements of the job :

  • Sitting at a meeting table or desk - Reaching - Lifting - Bending - Standing - Stooping - Twisting -
  • Climbing steps - Driving a vehicle
