Lead Teacher Responsibilities
Plan and implement age and developmentally appropriate curriculum for children, including daily open-ended activities to expand their competencies across developmental domains, submit written lesson plans to the Center managerMaintain appropriate teacher – child ratios, ensuring visual supervision of children at all timesDevelop and maintain a safe, healthy, nurturing, and culturally relevant classroom environment for all children and familiesDevelop an infant services and needs plan at enrollment and review quarterlyUnderstand and follow Wu Yee policies and procedures to ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with licensing requirements, Head Start performance standards, and California Department of Education regulationsMaintain regular and timely communication with program staff, including, but not limited to the Center Manager, Associate Teacher, and Family Advocates to facilitate effective program performanceEnsure documentation of all significant contacts with families and maintain up-to-date file records including attendance, emergency contact information, family contact, education data, and file log for your classroomAccurately and promptly complete formal observations, ongoing screening, and assessments of children in your primary care according to the service area timelineOversee formal observations, ongoing screening, and assessments for your classroomDevelop and maintain portfolios that document the unique strengths, skills, and areas of growth for the children in your primary care on a regular basisReview portfolios for your classroom to ensure they are completed to accurately document children's strengths, skills, and areas of growthMaintain ongoing, open communication with families and conduct parent-teacher conferences and home visits for children in your primary careMaintain appropriate active supervision of children in your care at all timesProvide guidance and support for Associate Teachers in conducting parent-teacher conferences and home visits, ensuring program requirements are met for your classroomConduct regular classroom monitoring, using formal tools to evaluate the environment and child-teacher interactionsImplement and follow-up on action plans for ongoing program improvementReview child assessment data and understand school readiness goals to adapt the classroom environment and lesson plans to increase skill-building opportunities for children in your classroomProvide professional feedback to Associate Teachers and volunteers for ongoing reflection and development of teaching skillsEncourage and promote families' participation in center activities, field trips, special events, and the Family Committee and Policy Council; provide orientations for parent and community volunteers, as neededParticipate in the referral process for children with suspected disabilities, as neededRequirements
A valid California Teacher PermitAA Degree in ECE / CD or AA Degree in Social Science w / 24 ECE / CD units2 years of Teaching Experience3 Infant / toddler units required and 3 infant / toddler units to be completed within first 6 months of hireOccasional lifting up to 50 poundsBilingual in English / Chinese or English / Spanish is a plusHealthcare / vulnerable client employer, verified COVID vaccination requiredCompensation and Benefits
