American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring NC or compact RN licensure and strong Med / Tele skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 36-bed Med / Surg Telemetry unit within a large Level I Trauma teaching hospitalPatient population includes urological, renal, hepatic, GI, and post-transplant cases, as well as surgical traumaPatient ratios are typically 1 : 4-6, occasionally up to 1 : 7-8 during surge staffing12-hour night shifts starting at 7pm, every other weekend requiredNo on-call requirements for travelersRequired to work 75% of holidaysFloating required within assigned region to multiple affiliated hospital sites as needed and within scope of practiceNurses are responsible for reading and responding to their own telemetry monitorsUses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, and Phillips monitorsResponsibilities include managing patients with complex medical, surgical, and transplant needsSupport staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV / VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivistsNo telemetry monitoring technician; RNs are responsible for monitoring and responding to alarmsOrientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental trainingNavy scrubs are requiredFree parking availableUp to 6 days of requested time off (excluding holidays); any missed contracted hours must be made up at end of assignment\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN licenseMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Tele RN experienceCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certificationsAbility to interpret cardiac rhythms and perform general Med / Tele procedures including trach care, PIV starts, NGT placement, and chest tube managementExperience with medication drips such as cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluidsMust reside at least 50 miles from the facilityEpic charting experience preferredNot preferred but will consider first-time travelers\n Benefits\n
