Job Description
Our work relates to exterior building design, from below grade to roof tops. Additionally, this position requires the ability to recognize any potential constructability or installations issues that might require modification to typical installation design.
What you will do :
- Understand phases of exterior wall construction projects including but not limited to shop drawing, modeling, design development and construction documents.
- Conduct field review and progress inspection on designated projects.
- Field review observations will also include, at times, detailed forensic investigation and analysis of failed or defective construction.
- Track project activity by maintaining well written reports, detailed documents, schedules, effort of work and estimates.
Perform weekly project field observations of the following :
- Below grade waterproofing
- Below slab vapor barriers and pipe penetrations
- Observation prior to installation of Shotcrete walls
- Observation of building cladding; Vinyl siding, stucco, EIFS, masonry
- Observation of window applications - installation and inspections
- Observation of roofing components - before, during and after roofing applications
- Produce field notes on site, and in the office
- Photograph all conditions observed during above mentioned inspections
- Coordinate contractual issues
- Direct workers to perform repairs when non-conformance occurs
- Draft Construction Field Directives
- Draft Professional Service Agreements
- Draft Scopes of Work
- Minimal direction to administrative personnel
- Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering (Architectural, Civil, or Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum 1-3 years working with building envelope design, inspection, development and / or engineering.
- Working knowledge of current codes and standards
- Working knowledge of waterproofing; exterior cladding; building envelope components is a plus
- Knowledge of broad architectural design theories / concepts and specific structural theories / concepts related to exterior wall construction.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
- Strong written & verbal communications skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and modeling / drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM
PLUS SKILLS : Experience with Infra-Red, Wind Uplift Chamber, Air Barrier Testing, and Window Testing. Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
