The Clinical Educator is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs tailored to the unique needs of healthcare professionals working in acute care settings within the hospital. This role focuses on enhancing clinical competencies, promoting evidence-based practice, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The Clinical Educator collaborates closely with clinical leaders, interdisciplinary teams, and external partners to facilitate learning opportunities and support professional development initiatives.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

Curriculum Development : Design and develop educational curricula and learning resources specific to acute care settings, incorporating best practices, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based interventions.

New Employee Orientation : Facilitate new clinical employee training and / orientation.

Training Delivery : Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and simulations for healthcare professionals working in acute care units, covering topics such as critical care, emergency response, and specialized procedures.

Competency Assessment : Conduct competency assessments and skills validations for clinical staff in accordance with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and industry standards.

Patient Safety Initiatives : Collaborate with quality improvement teams to develop and implement patient safety initiatives, including error prevention strategies, infection control protocols, and risk mitigation measures.

Performance Improvement : Participate in performance improvement projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing clinical outcomes, reducing readmissions, and optimizing patient flow within acute care units.

SIM Lab Oversight : Utilize simulation and build / maintain simulation curricula for staff and partnering institutions of learning.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration : Work closely with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, teamwork, and communication in acute care settings.

Research and Innovation : Stay abreast of the latest research findings, clinical innovations, and technological advancements in acute care practice, incorporating relevant evidence into educational initiatives and clinical workflows.

Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of educational activities, attendance, evaluations, and outcomes, preparing reports and presentations for leadership, regulatory agencies, and accreditation bodies as required.

Registered Nurse (RN) with a current license to practice.

Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred).

Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in acute care settings, with demonstrated expertise in critical care, emergency medicine, medical, surgical experience or a related specialty.

Previous experience in nursing education, staff development, or clinical instruction preferred.

Strong clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in evidence-based practice.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate learners of diverse backgrounds and experience levels.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems, and educational technology tools.

Commitment to lifelong learning, professional growth, and continuous improvement in healthcare education and practice.
