Job Description :

We are now hiring winter temporary maintenance workers! Whether you're looking for temporary work for extra income through the winter months or looking to test out a new position prior to making a long-term commitment, we encourage you to apply! Pay rate of $19.941 to start. Those that possess a current and valid CDL will start at $21.470 and will assist in winter operations and snow removal.

Locations hiring : Albion, Bloomfield, Clarkson, Columbus, Crofton, Hartington, Humphrey, Laurel, Lyons, Neligh, Newcastle, Niobrara, Norfolk, Plainview, Dakota City, Wayne, and West Point. Winter positions, temporary, until March 31, 2026. Hours may depend on the weather, may be more or less than 40 hours per week.

Job Duties :

• Perform snow removal.
• Perform heavy equipment operation for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Safely move, drag, lift, load, and unload various equipment, materials, supplies, and hazardous materials or objects from the roadway within weight restrictions.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

Highway Maintenance Worker : Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.

Highway Maintenance Worker / Senior : Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license, and possession of a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with air brakes and tanker endorsements is required within 60 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications : A valid Class A or B Commercial driver's license. Experience in the operation of heavy equipment.

Other : May require out of town, overnight travel. Regular and reliable attendance is also required. Must be able to be reached to report to work outside scheduled work hours for highway emergencies within a specified time frame.

Knowledge, skills and abilities :

Must be able to safely move, drag, lift 35 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally (without assistance), and 90 or more pounds infrequently (with assistance); climb, bend or stoop; work in outdoor temperature extremes and work around high speed traffic.
