Job Details

AMN Healthcare is partnering with a well-respected school district in Baltimore City, MD currently seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their Special Education team for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. The position offers 35 hours per week and is open to both licensed SLPs and Clinical Fellows (CFs), with supervision available. The role involves conducting assessments, developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing direct therapy services, and collaborating with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams. SLPs in this district address a wide range of communication disorders including articulation, fluency, voice, and language, and play a vital role in supporting students' academic and social-emotional development. Responsibilities also include participating in IEP meetings, providing staff training, and ensuring compliance with documentation and federal/state regulations.Working in this district offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a diverse urban district that serves over 75,000 students across 164 schools. The district provides competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, and strong professional development programs. Staff members benefit from tuition reimbursement, leadership development, and a strategic plan focused on equity and literacy. Many educators describe the experience as deeply rewarding, citing strong community bonds and a shared sense of purpose in supporting students who face significant challenges. The Special Education Department at the district is committed to inclusive education and ensuring that students with disabilities receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). The department supports students from birth through age 21 and emphasizes collaboration, equity, and evidence-based practices. Services include assistive technology, transition planning, and a strategic roadmap focused on student achievement and inclusion. SLPs are integral to this mission and work closely with other specialists to provide comprehensive support.Baltimore offers a vibrant lifestyle with a mix of historic charm and modern amenities. The city is known for its cultural attractions such as the Inner Harbor, National Aquarium, and Federal Hill Park. Popular neighborhoods like Federal Hill, Fells Point, Hampden, and Canton offer a variety of housing options, from waterfront apartments to historic row homes. Rental prices range from approximately $1,200 for studios to $2,300 for larger homes, and the average home listing price is around $394,000-significantly lower than nearby cities like Washington, D.C. The cost of living in Baltimore is about 13% higher than the national average but still 26% lower than Maryland's overall average, making it a relatively affordable option for professionals relocating to the area.Baltimore's nightlife and food scene are lively and diverse. The city is famous for its crab cakes and seafood, with standout restaurants like Faidley's Seafood and eateries in Harbor East and Fell's Point. Breweries and bars such as The Brewer's Art, Max's Taphouse, and WC Harlan offer great local flavor, while live music venues like Rams Head Live, The 8×10, and Ottobar host a range of performances from indie bands to jazz ensembles. Seasonal festivals and waterfront events add to the city's cultural richness. For those working through AMN Healthcare, additional benefits include weekly pay, housing and per diem stipends, health insurance (medical, dental, vision, and life), a 401(k) savings plan, and paid time off. AMN also offers support for Clinical Fellows, including supervision and onboarding assistance, and access to the AMN Passport App for career management. Clinicians working with AMN have praised the company's responsiveness and ease of onboarding, with one noting, "They made the process easier to obtain my licensure and get me on contracts. They take care of everything." Additional perks include scholarship opportunities up to $5,000 and referral bonuses of up to $3,000.This opportunity combines a fulfilling professional role with a dynamic urban lifestyle and strong support systems, making it an excellent choice for both experienced SLPs and Clinical Fellows looking to grow their careers.
