Position Summary
The Expediter is responsible for coordinating the flow of orders from the kitchen to the guest with accuracy, speed, and consistency. This role ensures that every dish leaving the kitchen meets quality, timing, and presentation standards. The Expediter acts as the communication bridge between Front-of-House and Back-of-House teams, helping maintain smooth service and a positive guest experience.
Key Responsibilities Order Coordination
Quality Control
Verify plating, portioning, and presentation standards on every dish.
Ensure hot food stays hot and cold food stays cold.
Return any incorrect or substandard dishes to the line for correction.
Communication
Serve as a liaison between FOH and BOH teams during service.
Relay timing updates, fire times, and course pacing.
Maintain strong, calm communication during high-volume periods.
Service Support
Support servers with timing, and order status as needed.
Track and communicate any delays or issues that may affect the guest experience.
Cleanliness & Organization
Keep the expo line clean, organized, and stocked throughout service.
Maintain ticket rails, heat lamps, pass windows, garnishes, and necessary tools.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a high-volume or fast-paced restaurant strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.
Strong attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure.
Understanding of food runners’, and line cooks’ roles.
Knowledge of allergens, menu items, and modifications (or ability to learn quickly).
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
