Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. You will assist with various tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the well-being of our patients while also contributing to the smooth operation of the clinic.
- Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures
- Provide care for animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform animal restraint for examinations and treatments
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic and animal housing areas
- Handle laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic tests
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding care instructions and treatment plans
- Document patient information accurately in medical records
- Support front desk operations as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing client inquiries
- Skills
- Kennel experience is preferred
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices
- Previous veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care protocols
- Proficiency in front desk operations within a veterinary setting
- Strong animal handling skills, including dog handling techniques
- Understanding of veterinary terminology and procedures
- Experience in medication administration and animal restraint techniques
- Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and catheterization procedures
- Aseptic technique proficiency for surgical support tasks
- Laboratory experience related to veterinary diagnostics is beneficial
