Job Description
Overview : The Field Engineering team plays a crucial role in enhancing public safety by deploying Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile Applications, and Records Management Systems (RMS). They handle all on-premise hardware and equipment installations for government and municipal projects, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and promote standardization and reuse.
Responsibilities
- Managing and executing customer installation activities within agreed upon project timeframes.
- Verifying the complete functionality and readiness of systems for software deployment.
- Conducting routine system tasks like software updates, system upgrades, data backup / restoration, and troubleshooting.
- Gaining a deep understanding of public safety customer environments to ensure optimal product security and reliability.
- Demonstrating proficient software and IP networking skills, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Deliver solutions that align with existing products, standard interfaces, and pre-defined procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across systems, networks, and infrastructure.
- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
- Identify defects, work with project team / Engineering to support through resolution.
- Adhering to all corporate guidelines and completing required training, including CJIS compliance.
- Accurately logging billable hours for project work.
- Occasional travel (25%-50%) will be required, depending on project and business needs.
Qualifications
Proven experience installing, administering, and troubleshooting the following : Server Virtualization / Containerization (VMware ESXi v7+ and / or Red Hat OpenShift), Database Servers (Microsoft SQL Server 2019+), Server Operating Systems (Windows Server 2019+), Workstation Operating Systems (Windows 10 / 11, Linux).Network LAN Switches experience (HP Arista is a plus).Storage Area Network (SAN) experience (HPE Alletra and Nimble is a plus).Basic Firewall and Router knowledge (Fortinet Fortigate is a plus).Server and Workstation hardware experience (HPE compute hardware is a plus).Active Directory administration including GPO and DNS.Experience using TeamCity is a plus.Prior experience with the deployment, integration, operations, or administration of Public Safety Applications.A strong ability to independently select appropriate methods and techniques to solve problems.The capacity to collaborate effectively with regional and territorial management.Excellent communication skills to interact clearly with peers and senior stakeholders.Demonstrated critical thinking skills for effective problem-solving and decision-making.Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, IT, Software Engineering, or Technology, OR 5+ years of experience deploying and integrating complex IP products and systems.Target Base Salary Range : $90,000.00 - $105,000.00
Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
