Position Overview
The Hydronic and Prefabrication Plumbing Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all hydronic and prefabrication plumbing operations within VMG. This role bridges design, fabrication, and field installation-ensuring systems are engineered, built, and delivered to the highest quality and efficiency standards.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical leader with strong knowledge of hydronic systems, prefabrication methods, and large-scale mechanical construction. They will drive innovation in prefab processes, optimize workflows, and ensure seamless collaboration between design, BIM, fabrication, and field teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and develop the hydronic and prefabrication plumbing team.
Oversee design coordination, material selection, and fabrication strategies for hydronic and plumbing systems.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to ensure prefab components meet design intent and project timelines.
Establish and refine prefabrication standards, procedures, and quality control measures.
Analyze fabrication processes to identify cost-saving opportunities and production efficiencies.
Review and approve hydronic system designs, submittals, and shop drawings.
Support estimating and preconstruction teams in developing accurate budgets and constructability assessments.
Ensure compliance with all codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Maintain strong communication and alignment between the fabrication shop and field operations.
Stay informed of emerging technologies and methods in prefabrication and hydronic system design to enhance VMG's capabilities.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in mechanical or plumbing construction, with a focus on hydronic systems and prefabrication.
Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fabrication or construction environment.
Strong technical understanding of hydronic heating / cooling, piping systems, and prefab assembly.
Familiarity with BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, and fabrication management software preferred.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
