About The Position

Must-Have :

Strong cardiac telemetry background, preferably with 2 years of experience.

Experience in titrating cardiac drips per physician's orders and parameters.

Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips.

Description :

This is a telemetry position requiring specialized skills.

Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to starting the role, with a maximum of 2 attempts.

Failing the exam will result in being designated as a Do Not Use (DNU) for a period of 6 months.

A PASS / FAIL simulation lab will be conducted on the first day of orientation.

Failure in the simulation lab will also result in a DNU for 6 months.

Nurses will be responsible for caring for patients in the ED who are waiting for a bed in the hospital.

Patient ratios are expected to be 1 to 4.

Nurses will care for patients primarily in a telemetry capacity.

Common diagnoses include those typical of ED holds waiting for placement.

Charge nurse responsibilities will be assumed by the ED charge nurse.

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) are available to assist on the unit.

Nurses will not be assigned as primary RNs for ED patient assignments, but may assist with vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration.

The ability to float to med / surg, telemetry, overflow units, and other facilities as needed is required.

Shifts are 12 hours in length, with a combination of self-scheduling and flexibility.

Weekend shifts require working 4 weekends within a 4-week schedule.

There are no call or standby requirements for this position.
