Responsibilities

  • This position may perform the following groundskeeping maintenance tasks on University properties : mowing, edging, mulching, raking, power blowing, weed eating, pulling weeds, removal of litter and debris from assigned areas, and pruning.
  • Assists with landscaping tasks such as planting annuals, shrubs, and trees, preparing newly landscaped areas with soil excavation and removal, and spreading of landscape materials such as pine straw, bark, or rocks.
  • Ensures that all manual and power equipment is in proper working condition and reports maintenance problems to the supervisor. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor or higher authority. Requires a valid driver's license for driving a utility vehicle. Drives University vehicle, as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Completion of 9th Grade.
  • A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Ability to meet the physical demand of the position, including the ability to lift 25lbs, and able to stoop, bend, stand for long periods of time and ability to work under all weather conditions.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of landscaping and grounds keeping techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair a variety of equipment and machinery used in area of work.
  • Ability to perform grounds keeping work to include the transplanting, cultivation, pruning, and trimming of plants, shrubs, and trees.
  • Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
