American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a CA RN license, significant PICU experience, and night shift availability.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an 8-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within an acute care settingAverage patient census is 2 with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 2Common cases include respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, suicide attempts, overdoses, poisoning, ventilator management, and diabetic ketoacidosisNight shifts with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend requiredFloat to general pediatrics and burn unit for non-burn pediatric care, with voluntary floating to NICUTravelers are first to float as neededCensus-dependent on-call standby possibleRequired to work 2 out of 3 major holidaysCharting is done in Cerner EMRSpacelab telemetry monitors and Medfusion pumps are usedRespiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24 / 7PICU-specific orientation includes 2 PICU shifts, 1 peds shift, and 1 burn unit shift for pedsPrimary responsibilities include management of critically ill pediatric patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventionsFrequent titration and management of insulin, sedative agents, heparin, electrolyte replacement, and occasional vasoactive dripsWork under the support of in-house pediatric hospitalist intensivists 24 / 7Navy blue scrubs requiredNo IV team available; nurses must perform all related tasksMandatory pass / fail sterile technique testing for catheter and line management may be requiredReturning employees must not have worked at any CommonSpirit or affiliated facility in the past 12 months as direct employeesTwo professional references required, including one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 yearsCopy of driver’s license must be submitted for consideration\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses are not acceptedBLS and PALS certifications required and must be current at considerationMinimum of 2 years recent PICU experience required; 3 years total RN experience requiredProficiency in reading telemetry strips is requiredExperience with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, and pediatric critical care equipment requiredCerner EMR experience preferredNo nurse aides routinely on unit; must be comfortable with independent practiceFirst-time travelers will not be considered\n Benefits\n
