We are looking for a dynamic leader to spearhead the selection, implementation, and management of cutting-edge test automation tools and frameworks within our Global Payment Network. In this crucial role, you will drive product quality and enhance software development efficiency. Your deep expertise in test automation strategies and technical leadership will be essential as you manage test teams, develop impactful strategies, and collaborate across functions to seamlessly integrate innovative tools and best practices into the development lifecycle.

What you'll be responsible for :

Lead and inspire a team of test engineers and automation specialists, nurturing a culture of continuous improvement within the Global Payment Network.

Provide comprehensive training on quality strategies, standards, tools, and processes to Software Development Engineers, QA professionals, and architects.

Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency by introducing new testing processes, methodologies, and standards in alignment with Capital One's objectives.

Key Responsibilities :

Collaborate with product owners to understand application capabilities and testing scenarios.

Enhance and refine software engineering practices continuously.

Engage with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a comprehensive stack of tools and technologies.

Champion the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.

Stay informed of emerging tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and actively participate in technology communities while mentoring fellow engineers.

Foster an environment that celebrates innovation, inclusive thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.

Utilize scripting languages such as Python, SQL, Ruby, and Groovy, alongside container orchestration services like Docker and ECS, CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and various AWS tools and services.

Set clear goals, conduct performance reviews, and effectively manage team resources.

Develop and refine comprehensive test automation strategies while overseeing the selection and ongoing management of tools and frameworks.

Provide expert technical guidance on modern test tooling, automation techniques, and best practices.

Implement and monitor test strategies, roadmaps, and operational excellence plans.

Work closely with project managers, developers, QA teams, and other stakeholders to integrate testing tools into the development process.

Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with testing processes and tool adoption.

Demonstrate a deep understanding of test automation tools and frameworks (Selenium, BrowserStack), scripting languages (Python, Java), and cloud-native environments.

Possess familiarity with Agile methodologies, software development life cycle (SDLC), and industry best practices for quality assurance.

Basic Qualifications :

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.

At least 8 years of experience with build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory).

At least 6 years of experience with AWS.

At least 4 years of experience managing teams.

Preferred Qualifications :

7+ years of experience with AWS.

4+ years of experience in both functional and non-functional testing.

4+ years of experience using Serenity, Playwright, Cypress, Squish, or JMeter.

2+ years of experience in Agile practices.

The position is based at 1701 Riverwoods Road, Riverwoods, IL 60015; Houston, TX; or 1680 Capital One Drive, McLean, VA 22102.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are as follows :

• Riverwoods, IL : $175,500 - $200,300
• Houston, TX : $175,500 - $200,300
• McLean, VA : $193,000 - $220,300
