Job Description

Job Title : Registered Nurse - ICU

Job Specialty : Float Pool

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 7 PM - 7 AM, 12-hour nights

Guaranteed Hours : 48 hours per week

Experience : Minimum of 2 years required; first-time travelers accepted

License : Registered Nurse License

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS

Must-Have : Neuro and trauma experience, ventilator management, critical care drips / titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, measuring cardiac strips, hemodynamic lines management

Job Description :

• Work in a Level II Trauma Center with a total bed count of 411
• Float between all levels of care, including ICU, ER holds / observations, and Stepdown units
• Care for multispecialty critical care patients including Medical, Surgical, Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, and Interventional
• Manage common diagnoses such as Stroke, ICP monitoring, EVD Drains, spinal precautions, DKA, Sepsis, Multisystem trauma, COVID, STEMI, NSTEMI, and Heart failure
• Patient ratios are generally 1 : 2 based on acuity, with the possibility of a third patient during downgrades. ED Hold / Obs patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 based on acuity.
• Share responsibility with CNAs and resource nurses, and utilize support from charge nurses, hospitalists, cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists, and therapists
• Use technology and equipment like Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and monitors
• Attend a general hospital orientation followed by a floor tour by the education department, with one shift of orientation before being on your own
• Schedule includes every other weekend rotation with specific day and night shifts
• No on-call duties, and holiday RTO is not accepted
