Position Summary:
We understand the power of creativity and purposeful design. We’re looking for a talented, collaborative, and future focused creative director who can strategically communicate through the visual language of design.
As a creative director with an art direction and design background, you will be responsible for creative problem solving, ideation, individual contribution, and team leadership for a variety of brands, industries, and channels, and in particular, a passion for email marketing. You’ll work closely from conception to reality with peers from every discipline from kickoff to execution to create strong, smart and cohesive projects that over exceed our clients expectations.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead project ideation and design of conceptual campaigns with multiple touchpoints
- Work with marketing and brand strategies to creatively problem solve and create meaningful work that delivers on the project objective
- Lead the design and production team through execution to ensure our creative standard for excellence
- Lead and direct photo/video shoots and animation
- Present creative work internally as well as externally to Bold Orange clients
- Research and source assets for inspiration and design
- Stay current with trends in market and lead the team in concept through execution.
- Demonstrate strong design skills and understanding in typography, color, imagery, illustration, motion design and design systems
- Demonstrate diverse design skills across a variety of channels and mediums
- Design for a variety of channels/tactics— including web, email, video, brand identity, print, social
- Think boldly and broadly—solving the problem at-hand, in addition to exploring fresh ways of doing so and bringing the “And then some” beyond the ask
- Desire to own initiatives end to end with individual contribution and leadership of the over arching creative team
- Collaborate with marketing strategists, client services, copywriters, designers and developers.
- Manage, oversee and consult on a variety of projects for a diverse set of clientele
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts, design, visual communications and/or demonstrated equivocal agency experience in a creative director role
- At minimum, 5 years of leadership at the CD level in a creative marketing and/or advertising environment
- At minimum, 5-10 years of previous art director and design experience
- Working knowledge of Figma (required), Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Sketch, InDesign, Animate, InVision and other creative applications
- Cross-channel expertise including website, email, print and social
- Comprehensive knowledge and skills working with and creating brand and style guides
- Understanding of design principles in typography, color, imagery, illustration, motion design and design systems
- Highly creative, conceptual and strategic
- Excitement to mentor and lead creative initiatives
- A strong desire to constantly seek relevance and innovation
- Desire and ability to be “in” and ‘on” the work
- Collaborative both in ideation and ability to pivot with new insights
- Ability to guide with a clear POV on creative needs/ideas/choices
- Ability to comprehend and leverage insights from research and data to connect with a target audience
- Understanding and adherence of best practices and trends in digital experiences
- Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-starter with ability to multi-task, while adhering to deadlines
We benchmark salaries across industry standards and local markets to ensure we offer competitive, fair compensation. Final offers reflect a candidate’s skills, experience, and location at the time of hire. This position is anticipated to fall between $107-160k base for the Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN market.
