Night Shift Foreman (Farmers Branch, TX) - Austin Bridge & Road

Austin Bridge & Road is currently seeking an experienced Night Shift Foreman for a large project in the Farmers Branch, Texas area. They are responsible for providing supervision and coordination of workers on a structures / bridge construction crew. The goals of this position include scheduling work to meet timetables in a safe manner and to meet estimated costs. The person must maintain a good working relationship with inspectors, developers, vendors, and subcontractors.

Planning :
Review contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schematics to determine the nature and scope of the work, the materials to be utilized, and manpower requirements (by craft) for each construction phaseExecute Work Plans for major components of work and monitor adherence to Work PlansExecute established procedures for the ordering self-perform materials, supplies, and small tools from approved suppliers. Ensure timely requisition is made for needed materials and equipmentCost Performance :
Monitor daily labor costs and production rates for accuracy and conformance with established budgets. Take corrective action to improve productivity when labor costs exceed expected normsEncourage craftsmen to develop innovative methods for increasing efficiency, productivity, and profitability in their particular operation and to provide feedback and coaching on how the work is proceedingExecute hourly time card reportingMaintain all equipment assigned to crew and conduct preventive maintenance training for operator(s). Also responsible for various hand tools and the proper storage of all equipment at the end of each dayScheduling :
Provide a detailed construction plan for each day and general plan for one week. Manage work to stay within scheduleManage scheduling of all QA / QC inspections of work necessary to obtain owner acceptance of the workQuality Management :
Inspect work in progress and ensure that it is performed within the tolerances established. Take corrective action when tolerances and / or overall performance standard are not being maintainedRelationships :
Ability to manage crew into an effectively coordinated working unit, promoting a motivating atmosphereFoster and promote the training and development of subordinates through various on-the-job training opportunities, company-sponsored training programsRecommend personnel actions, such as promotions, discharges, disciplinary measures, initiate and suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goalsSupervise the work of subcontractors to ensure compliance with plan, specifications, and schedulesSafety :
Conduct Tool Box and JHA Safety Meetings with employee-owners to instruct them on topics for accident preventionEnforce all safety regulations and company policies, and is constantly alert to all safety conditionsTechnical :
Investigate alternative work methods and materials to improve efficiency and work quality; works to resolve issuesEnsure compliance with plans and specificationsPerform a variety of tasks associated with project completion, (e.g., closeout punch lists, demobilization)Maintain a detailed and accurate daily report of all activity associated with field construction activitiesEnsure that equipment is being used for its intended purpose in the correct mannerInterpret company policies to workers and disseminates Equal Employment Opportunity Policy by covering these topics in conjunction with Safety MeetingsConduct on-the-job training for qualified personnel and records and reports hours on Foreman's Daily ControlFill out Foreman's Daily Control correctly with employee-owners' hours, job number, cost codes, and quantitiesQualifications :
Knowledge of concrete forming systems, carpentry skills, concrete placement, and finishing skillsExperience in supervising crewExperience using HCSS Heavy Job (tablet based)Osha 10 hr, First Aid / CPR, rigging, flagging, fall protection, trench excavation, and manliftExperience with demolition, earthwork concrete paving, setting temporary concrete barrier, etc. a plusBilingual in Spanish a plusMust have a strong commitment to jobsite safetyDiligent in demonstrating safe work practicesMust be highly organized with an attention to detailBe an effective communicatorAbility to work in a fast-paced team environment and meet deadlinesRequirements :
High School Diploma / GED or higher5+ years of experience on large heavy civil projects - TxDOT or highway construction (MOT, Barrier setting, Earthwork, Demolition, Concrete paving)Valid driver's licenseRequires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperaturesMust be able to work one of two shifts :Open to swing shift (noon to midnight)
