This Opportunity

FPA is seeking a full-time Project Manager Mechanical (HVAC) for our Wall Township, New Jersey office. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of relevant design experience in consulting engineering and / or construction projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage HVAC design projects across various building types, including commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential.
  • Develop and oversee HVAC system designs, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client needs.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
  • Provide technical expertise in HVAC load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, ductwork, piping, controls, and energy efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand needs, provide recommendations, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (electrical, plumbing, structural) for integrated project delivery.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure proper installation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead professional development efforts.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, bids, and proposals.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and apply innovative, sustainable solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships for repeat business.
  • Manage project risks and resolve issues proactively.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, focusing on HVAC design and project management.
  • PE license in NJ required; LEED or similar credentials are a plus.
  • Proficiency in HVAC design software (Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, EnergyPlus, AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project); BIM experience is a plus.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills, with experience managing budgets and teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green certifications (LEED, WELL, BREEAM).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with attention to detail.

    Compensation

    The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $180,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
