POSITION PURPOSE
Under the supervision and direction of the Library Director, this position develops and oversees the creation of both print and digital media to communicate the library's services, events, and initiatives to the residents of Iberville Parish.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Assume responsibility for the creation and distribution of the library's print media
- Design, produce, and distribute the monthly newsletter
- Create brochures, flyers, posters, and / or handouts to promote systemwide services and resources to better inform the public of library collections, databases, programs, and services.
- Create and submit library promotional materials to community partners following an established schedule
- Ensure that all printed media meets brand guidelines and follows established schedules.
- Collaborate with library departments to stay informed of upcoming services and programs that require promotion
- Manage distribution lists and ensure that content is sent on time following established schedules.
Assumes responsibility for the management of the library's website and social media platforms
Regularly update the website to promote library programs and services and keep the website relevant and engagingEnsure the website follows brand guidelines and SEO best practicesWork with Library Administration to create new webpages and sections to accurately describe and promote library services available at all library locationsUpdate and maintain social media profiles across approved platformsCreate, schedule and publish social media posts that follow branding guidelines, marketing goals, and best practices.Create and distribute the library's e-Newsletter(s) and maintain its subscription list.Create and implement e-communication initiatives to inform patrons of services and programsRespond to patron questions received via email or direct message in a timely mannerTrack and analyze content performance across email, websites, social media platforms, and e-communication platforms. Make recommendations for improvements.Assumes responsibility for working with internal departments and outside entities to promote library services
Create, maintain, and follow content calendars for print and digital media so that all parties understand submission deadlinesAssists the Library Director in liaison duties with community partners and outside entities in planning library promotional campaigns and initiativesProvide support for other departments as assigned, including graphic design, event promotion, or special projects.Assumes responsibility for engaging in learning and development activities
Continuously improves job skills by participating in continuing education opportunitiesContinuously develops software and online media skills necessary for effective communication and job functionMaintains knowledge of the library services, resources, activities, policies, and proceduresReviews professional literature to keep informed about services, issues, emerging technologies, and research related to online services and media for libraries. Relates ideas to the library's mission and values.Assists in peer support and training as neededAssumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
Ability to work cooperatively between library departments in effort to develop and create high-quality marketing for library programs and servicesCompletes special projects as assigned and by deadlinePerforms other duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS, Education, and experience :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.1 year experience related public relations experience, preferably within the public sectorPREFERRED : Degree in Media, Communications, Public Relations, or related fieldRequired Knowledge :
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and associated applicationsKnowledge of general library principles, policies and proceduresKnowledge of library materials, services, and technologiesKnowledge of current online platforms, tools, and trendsKnowledgeable in utilizing social media and creating content to encourage engagementProficient keyboarding skills and understanding of Microsoft Office 365 environment and applicationsSkills / Abilities :
