Description :

We are seeking a skilled CVOR RN to join our team.

The cardiovascular operating room runs 2-3 rooms each day.

On average, we handle 1-3 cases per day.

Typical cases include CABG, valve repair / replacement, aortic dissections, ECMO, and VAD implants.

Experience with congenital pediatric open heart surgeries is preferred but not mandatory.

The traveler must have experience as a primary circulating nurse for complex open heart procedures.

Scrubbing is required, but the RN traveler will not be mandated to scrub.

There is a primary charge nurse available during weekday shifts, and a house supervisor is present 24 / 7.

The team consists of both nurses and surgical techs, and nurses are trained to scrub as well.

The electronic medical record system used is Epic.

The position requires four 10-hour shifts, generally from 0630 to 1700.

There is no set day off each week.

Weeknight call is approximately every third weekday night, while weekends have call approximately every third weekend.

Holidays may require on-call coverage.

Floating within the department of surgery may be necessary if there is a low census in the CVOR.

Surgical scrubs are provided, and personal locking mechanisms are required for lockers.

Precepting new staff is an expectation of the position.

The circulating nurse is responsible for various tasks, including reviewing patient charts, interviewing patients, and assisting anesthesia during induction, among others.
