Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a temporary Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license; OR

Possession of a current Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license and accreditation with the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.

NOTES :

Permanent status cannot be granted to an employee holding temporary respiratory therapist licensure.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties :

• Independently administers respiratory therapy modality with general supervision to individuals via small volume nebulizers metered dose inhalers oxygen concentrators c-pap and bi-pap machines
• Tracheotomy care and suctioning incentive spirometry and assess clients pre and post treatment with pulse oximetry respiratory rate osculate bilateral breath sounds skin color sputum characteristics cough effort and pulse.
• Make rounds to complete ordered treatments and observations. Document in progress notes and Medication Administration Record for any procedures performed or medications given.
• Maintain and clean all respiratory equipment including oxygen concentrators suction machines c-pap bi-pap equipment and air compressors. Assemble and change out all disposable respiratory equipment order oxygen as needed and respiratory medications from pharmacy.
• Maintain records of quality control and assurance reports including quarterly assessments and pneumonia reports.
• Conduct tracheotomy care evaluations for staff. Meet with Interdisciplinary Team including Primary Care Providers and nurses to present and discuss evaluations.

SHIFT : 5 : 30 AM 6 : 00 PM PASS DAYS : Day-A

Appointment Type : This position may be filled by Detail to Special Duty Probation Promotion Demotion or Lateral Transfer. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

Career Progression : This position may be filled as a RESPIRATORY CARE THERAPIST 1CERTIFIED or RESPIRATORY CARE THERAPIST 2CERTIFIED depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant.

Compensation : (Depends on Qualifications)

This position also receives Shift Differential and Additional pay options.

RESPIRATORY CARE THERAPIST 1CERTIFIED- $19.67hr. $35.40hr.

RESPIRATORY CARE THERAPIST 2CERTIFIED- $21.05hr. - $37.88hr.
