American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with critical care and ER experience for a 13-week acute care assignment in California requiring a current CA RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an 8-bed ICU within an acute care hospitalPatients are primarily adult medical ICU cases with telemetry and ventilator management requiredPatient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2Use of Cerner EMR system; prior Cerner experience preferred12-hour day shifts with every other weekend requiredFloating required between ICU, ER, MedSurg, and occasionally to sister facilities in the Sacramento regionReport is conducted at the bedsideSelf-scheduling is used, subject to manager approval with schedules released 4 weeks in advanceHospitalist or intensivist coverage is available in-house, with 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy supportResponsible for caring for critically ill ICU patients, monitoring telemetry, managing ventilators, and floating to ER and MedSurg as neededCharge nurse is available for support but generally does not take patientsNurse aides are available based on census and staffing needsWill be required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's; holiday requests may be considered but are not guaranteedNavy scrubs are required, with navy, white, or black undershirts and optional navy scrub jacketsOrientation includes 1–2 days on the floor with a preceptorFirst-time travelers will be consideredCandidates must provide two professional references : one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years\n \n Requirements\n
Active, unencumbered CA RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years of ICU experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications from AHA are requiredICU and ER experience requiredMust be able to read and interpret EKG strips and manage ventilatorsPrior direct employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year makes candidates ineligibleMust successfully pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (test results within 12 months accepted)Ability to pass a basic sterile technique skills test on first day of orientation\n Benefits\n
