Summary
At Apple we craft products that enrich people’s lives. Do you love working on challenges that no one has solved yet? Do you like changing the game? We have an opportunity for a forward-thinking and hardworking Wireless System Engineer. As a member of our multifaceted group, you will have the rare and extraordinary opportunity to craft upcoming products that will delight and encourage millions of Apple’s customers.
Description
In this technical role, you will be at the center of a silicon design group responsible for system design of pioneering wireless SoC’s for very high data rate applications. You will focus on finding innovative solutions to challenging PHY / MAC Cross Layer problems with the goal of achieving robust system performance in dynamically changing and congested radio environments. This will include proposing, simulating, supporting SW / HW implementation, bringing up in the lab, and optimizing advanced algorithms addressing areas such as rate adaptation, interference management and coexistence.
You will work closely with Software engineers, Hardware digital designers, architects, and Product teams to achieve these goals. Good interpersonal skills will be essential to understand domain requirements and constraints - and converge to a final solution that achieves performance, cost, power, and other requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
Strong individual technical contributor capacity that with at least 5 years experience in designing PHY / MAC cross-layer algorithms, signal processing, and wireless communication systems.
Deep understanding of communication theory, information theory, and signal processing related algorithm design.
Experience with system optimization in congested and dynamically changing radio environments through cross-layer designs with proven understanding of PHY systems and MAC protocols.
Experience designing and developing the physical layer core algorithms for wireless communication systems such as MIMO / OFDM signal estimation and detection, channel estimation, equalization, coding theory, beam forming, timing recovery, frequency synchronization, automatic gain control.
Experience implementing system models in MATLAB, Python and / or C / C++ for algorithm development, modeling, and simulation.
Knowledge of existing wireless communication protocols : 802.11a / b / g / n / ac / ax / be, 802.11ad / ay, 5G / LTE / WCDMA / GSM, and / or Bluetooth / BLE.
Preferred Qualifications
MSEE or PhD with a few years proven experience.
Able to efficiently use lab equipments such as spectrum analyzer, signal generator, network traffic analyzer.
Experience with ns-3, emulation systems, and virtual platforms.
Knowledge of modem architecture.
Hands-on experience with bringing up silicon, testing, debug and characterization in the lab over variations of setups from basic single link performance to practical setups with other devices and interference.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
