Accountant 1

As an Accountant 1 with BCBSWY, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy of our financial reporting. You will be responsible for cash flow management, tax compliance and treasury functions, daily and monthly account reconciliations, preparing journal entries and resolving any discrepancies that arise. You will work closely with team members to analyze financial data and identify trends, and you will support both internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation. Additionally, you will manage various financial schedules, such as prepayments, property taxes and fixed assets as well as preparing relevant portions of a quarterly insurance report.

To be successful in this role you will need a basic knowledge of accounting software. Experience in Workday is preferred but not required. A strong knowledge of GAAP, SAP, tax regulations, and banking regulations is preferred.

Minimum qualifications include an earned associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field; earned bachelor's degree is preferred. You must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables and formulas. You must also have strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and analysis, good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team are also necessary.

Our positions are all based in Wyoming. Depending on the department and the position, eligible employees may be offered limited In-Office / WFH flexibility (for those positions that are offered limited WFH, there will be a required number of In-Office days per week / month depending on department). Executive level employees are required to reside full-time in Wyoming.
