About the Role
We’re looking for a Creative Operations Manager to join OpenAI’s Marketing team in San Francisco. In this role, you’ll keep our creative engine running smoothly by managing the processes, systems, and resources that enable our designers, writers, and marketers to do their best work. You’ll balance day-to-day operational needs—like onboarding, budget tracking, contractor management, tech troubleshooting, and office logistics—with broader team health and culture initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, enjoys building structure around ambiguity, and has strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
What you\'ll do in this role
Resource Management
Monitor and report on project and resourcing health
Oversee contractor management, including job descriptions, contract nuances, extensions, and supports resource allocation
Serve as the point of contact for contract updates and extensions in coordination with leads
Suggest resourcing solutions and track resource allocation across all creative projects
Operational Support
Manage onboarding for full-time employees and contractors, ensuring a seamless experience
Supports monthly budget tracking across projects and teams, surfacing risks and ensuring responsible spend
Troubleshoot common tech and access issues for team members, coordinating with IT as needed
Manage workspace logistics for the SF office
Process & Systems
Maintain and improve tracking systems for budgets, resourcing, and vendor management
Support adoption of project management and resourcing tools across the team
Identify and implement workflow improvements to help the team scale efficiently
Team Culture & Engagement
Coordinate and support cultural initiatives like all-team meetings, offsites, and community events
Partner with leads to create moments of connection and recognition for the team
Ensure operational excellence supports—not hinders—the team’s creative culture
You might thrive in this role if you :
Have 7+ years of experience in creative operations, marketing operations, production, or a related role
Have strong organizational and project management skills, with an eye for detail
Are proficient in Google Sheets and Airtable, with experience building and maintaining tracking systems
Are comfortable managing budgets and resourcing workflows at scale
Are skilled at contractor / vendor management and navigating administrative processes
Are adept at balancing structure with flexibility—knowing when to enforce process and when to adapt
Are a clear communicator who can partner with stakeholders across teams and levels
Are excited to support both the operational backbone and cultural heartbeat of a high-impact team
