CNC Machinist – 1st & 2nd Shift

Location : Newburyport, MA (Arwood Machine, a VulcanForms Company)

About the Role

As a CNC Machinist, you will operate CNC Lathe and / or Mill machines to support precision manufacturing in a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled facility. Our products serve industries including aerospace, defense, satellites, and medical devices. This is a shift-based role with opportunities on both 1st and 2nd shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and edit programs on CNC Lathes and 3 / 4 / 5-axis CNC Mills using Fanuc, Yasnac, Brother, Mitsubishi, and Heidenhain controls.

Perform tool setup, offsets, work holding, and first article buy-offs.

Inspect parts during production for dimensional and visual quality.

Monitor machines and tooling, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.

Follow process sheets, drawings, and programs accurately.

Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and production team members.

Mentor junior machinists and share troubleshooting expertise.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Qualifications

4+ years of experience with multi-axis CNC Mills and Lathes (live tooling experience a plus).

Strong blueprint reading skills and working knowledge of GD&T.

Hands-on experience with FANUC, Yasnac, Brother, Mitsubishi, and / or Heidenhain controls.

Team-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

Good hand / eye coordination and attention to detail.

Preferred

Graduate of an Advanced Machine Technology program.

Familiarity with 5S / 6S methodologies.

Experience with offline tool pre-setters and quick-change tooling.
