What you'll do
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Corporate Accountant working for our Government Accounting team in Carlsbad, CA. The Corporate Government Accounting team is not only responsible for maintaining the company's indirect rates for government contract costing but also acts as the primary point of contact for DCAA / DCMA Audits.
The day-to-day
The Senior Corporate Accountant will join a dynamic team of finance / accounting professionals who support the following critical functions for the company :
- Lead the monthly and quarterly financial close process for cost accounting, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Execute key cost accounting tasks including the allocation of intermediary cost pools, reviewing Indirect Rates, and performing Over / Under Analysis.
- Prepare and submit accurate journal entries for the month-end close, primarily focused on cost pool allocations within the Oracle / SAP system.
- Analyze trends and anomalies by reviewing headcount and square footage data to ensure data integrity and proper cost distribution.
- Evaluate FP&A budgets against historical actuals to ensure forecasted cost pools and bases are accurately aligned and reflected in the allocation models.
- Administer and maintain the Oracle General Ledger Cost Accounting environment.
- Review and approve newly established cost centers in Oracle / SAP, ensuring proper setup of cost centers to their appropriate parent accounts within the Oracle hierarchy.
- Lead the configuration, testing, and implementation of new or updated cost allocation rules and processes within the Oracle General Ledger Allocations module to drive accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with US and international entities to ensure the timely and accurate submission of financial data and adherence to relevant accounting standards.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) auditors, determining the appropriate internal experts for each request and directly resolving complex audit inquiries.
- Ensure all cost accounting practices and documentation comply with DCAA / Government contracting requirements.
What you'll need
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally including cost accounting (specifically cost absorption).Proven ability to perform complex accounting analysis and research using historical, current, and projected financial data.High-level proficiency in financial applications, particularly MS Excel, and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle / SAP).Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Excellent project management and organizational skills to schedule, coordinate, and meet established deadlines.Excellent written and oral communication skills and a proven ability to build strong internal relationships.Must be diligent, adaptable, flexible, and comfortable working both independently and in a team environment to manage evolving business and audit demands.U.S. Citizenship is required.What will help you on the job
CPA License.Big 4 public accounting experience.DCAA Audit Experience is a plus.ERP system experience (Oracle / SAP S4 HANA preferred).Salary range
$90,500.00 - $143,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $112,500.00- $168,500.00 / annually
