Job description

Accountant

Location : 6030 East Independence Blvd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28212

Summary : The Accountant performs duties related to the preparation and presentation of the company's financial data and financial reporting. These activities include but are not limited to posting journal entries, performing reconciliations of account balances, and preparing financial statements, reports, and other schedules on a timely basis. The Accountant will also work closely with the Accounting Manager, Controller, and other team members to complete additional tasks as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :

  • Maintain general ledger accounts, various sub-ledgers, and other schedules
  • Prepare and record monthly closing journal entries
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and footnotes
  • Perform reconciliations of account balances and other schedules as requested by management
  • Interact with management and other departments
  • Assist in the coordination and management of the external audit process
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reporting requests, analyses, and special projects as requested by management
  • Assist in the financial forecasting and budgeting function
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and standardization
  • Perform duties in compliance with GAAP and company / department policies and procedures
  • Provide superior internal customer service to company's Business Unit
  • Other miscellaneous duties and special projects as needed
  • Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area

Desired Education : Bachelor Degree

Field of Study / Work Experience :

Accounting

Desired Work Experience :

1-3 years

Education / Experience :

Bachelor in accounting or finance, CPA candidate a plus. 1-3 years of combined accounting experience including public or corporate / private accounting. Strong initiative with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Certificates and Licenses :

Valid Driver's License

CPA candidate (eligible to sit for CPA) is a plus.

Computer Skills :

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and proficiency in MS Office, specifically MS Excel and Access.

Communication Skills :

Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with company personnel, financial institution personnel, and external auditors.

Attendance Expectations :

The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel.

Environment Demands :

Duties are performed primarily at a desk in an office environment but will also be required to work throughout the facility. Work includes frequent clerical and administrative assignments and interaction with office, employees, and company personnel.

Verbal and Writing Ability :

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.

Math Ability :

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Reasoning Ability :

Ability to analyze transactions, determine proper accounting treatment, and understand fluctuations and their drivers. Ability to understand our business transactions and how we account for those transactions.
