CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Postgres Database Administrator within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. The Postgres Database Administrator is responsible for the comprehensive management, optimization, and security of PostgreSQL database systems. This role is critical for ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and high availability for organizations relying on PostgreSQL databases.

This position is located in our Arlington VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities :

• . Installation and Configuration : Installing, configuring, and upgrading PostgreSQL database instances and related software.
• . Performance Tuning and Optimization : Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions for query optimization, indexing, and overall system efficiency.
• . Backup and Recovery : Designing, implementing, and managing robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime in case of failures.
• . Security Management : Implementing and enforcing security measures, including user access control, data encryption, and vulnerability management, to protect sensitive information.
• . Database Design and Development Support : Collaborating with development teams to design and implement database schemas, optimize queries, and ensure efficient data storage and retrieval for applications.
• . Monitoring and Troubleshooting : Proactively monitoring database health, identifying potential issues, and performing timely troubleshooting and resolution of database-related problems.
• . High Availability and Disaster Recovery : Implementing and maintaining high availability solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure continuous operation and data resilience.
• . Documentation and Standards : Developing and maintaining documentation for database environments, standards, and operational procedures.
• . Automation : Utilizing scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine database tasks and enhance operational efficiency.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role :

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $200,600.00 - $210,600.00.
