The Manager, Frontend Engineering provides technical and managerial leadership to the frontend engineering team. This role is responsible for driving the technical roadmap, overseeing the development and execution of frontend projects, ensuring code quality and performance, and fostering a culture of collaboration and growth within the team.
This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.
Job Description
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of frontend engineers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard new frontend engineers.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and support the professional development of team members.
Technical Strategy & Architecture
Define and implement the technical vision and roadmap for frontend development, aligning with overall business objectives and product strategy.Champion Spec-Driven Development methodologies, utilizing AI agents to accelerate code generation from detailed technical specifications.Integrate Agentic AI workflows into the SDLC to automate ticket writing, test generation, and documentation updates.Oversee the architecture, design, and implementation of frontend systems and applications.Ensure the technical feasibility of UI / UX designs and provide guidance on frontend implementation.Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve development efficiency and product quality.Development & Execution
Translate business requirements into comprehensive technical specifications and actionable engineering tickets.Act as the primary technical point of contact for client assistance, troubleshooting, and requirements gathering.Oversee the development and execution of complex frontend projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.Collaborate with product managers, designers, data analytics, and backend engineers to gather requirements, define scope, and deliver optimal solutions.Participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.Document, design, diagram and demo on features, builds and milestones to executives, clients and peers, both technical and non-technical.Quality & Performance
Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, performance, and accessibility.Lead the development and maintenance of automated test suites Cypress, Playwright), ensuring self-healing and AI-assisted testing capabilities.Implement robust testing strategies and processes to ensure the delivery of bug-free, secure, and user-friendly web applications.Monitor and analyze application performance, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.Promote a strong focus on user experience, ensuring our applications are intuitive, engaging, and accessible to all users.Qualifications
5+ years of experience in frontend development, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.Experience with cloud technologies AWS, Azure, GCP).Contributions to open-source projects.Familiarity with AI frameworks for UI development V0, Agentic coding tools).Experience with Agentic Development workflows (using AI to drive end-to-end feature implementation).Proven track record of successfully managing and mentoring engineering teams.Proven experience building and optimizing frontend applications for ecommerce platforms.Deep understanding of modern frontend frameworks and libraries React, Svelte, Astro)Experience with headless architectures and how data flows through large systems.Strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript / TypeScript, and related technologies.Proven experience integrating and working with REST and GraphQL APIs.Proven experience with Spec-Driven Development (SDD) and writing detailed technical requirements for both human and AI consumption.Proven experience integrating with AI models and tools to enhance application functionality.Experience with responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and web accessibility standards, including WCAG and ADA compliance.Familiarity with frontend build tools and workflows Rollup, Babel, CI / CD).Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.Pay Range : $150,000 - $175,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
