The Controls Engineer acts as a safety champion in the Butler Manufacturing Operations, driving safety improvements through :

  • Active participation in the VBS (Values Based Safety) Program.
  • Participation in incident investigations and resolutions.
  • Developing process improvements with a safety-first attitude.
  • Addressing safety issues promptly with the appropriate personnel.
  • Reviewing ergonomic and safety concerns for all activities and projects.

Focusing on safety and ergonomics is essential. The Controls Engineer must be a change agent, fostering a safety-focused culture.

In this position, you'll have the opportunity to : Provide technical support and leadership to operations, including maintaining and improving control systems for key equipment in the fiberglass molding and door assembly plants. Lead projects from concept to completion, utilizing teamwork and communication skills for smooth implementation.

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership to maintenance associates.
  • Assist plant staff with technical questions and solutions.
  • Equipment Protection and Safety

  • Improve equipment controls for reliability and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety requirements.
  • Review new equipment controls for safety effectiveness.
  • Equipment and Facilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Lead process improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Create control specifications for new equipment.
  • Assist with installation and startup of new equipment.
  • Standardize control equipment.
  • Manage networks, software, and tools for controls work.
  • Oversee outside resources as needed.
  • Strong programming skills, especially with Allen Bradley PLC systems.
  • Integrate production I / O and drive systems, including electrical panels.
  • Generate electrical drawings for projects and modifications.
  • Qualifications

  • Preferably a BSEE or equivalent degree.
  • At least 5 years of controls experience.
  • Previous manufacturing experience.
  • Nice to have :

  • Experience with equipment builders or integrators.
  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation software.
  • Experience with Fanuc Robotics.
  • Qualification Requirements
