Type : Research Professional, Full-time, 40 hours / week
Salary Range : $38,000 - $45,000

The San Luis Valley Research Center, established in 1888, conducts research on potato varieties and plant pathology, serving the needs of growers and stakeholders.

Position Summary : The research associate will lead field, greenhouse, and lab operations under supervision, supporting research and extension activities related to plant pathology, including project design, data management, protocol development, and equipment maintenance.

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor's in relevant fields or equivalent experience

Proficiency in MS Office

Ability to learn pathogen detection methods

Experience with record keeping

Problem-solving skills

Colorado Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain

Valid driver's license or access to one

Ability to meet physical demands

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience with pathogen isolation, PCR protocols, aseptic techniques, greenhouse monitoring, and statistical analysis

Essential Duties :

Design and support plant pathology research projects

Conduct experiments related to disease management

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety

Record and analyze research data

Assist in extension activities like field days
