Sinai Health System is currently the largest provider of mental health services for west Chicago communities. For over 25 years, Sinai has offered outpatient therapy for children and adults in a community mental health centers housed in Mount Sinai Hospital. Therapeutic services are individualized and geared to promote the full well-being of clients including the development and utilization of natural, family, and community supports. These services promote resilience and emotional recovery. As a part of the resiliency and recovery process, we attempt to understand clients in their cultural, familial, and community contexts, and support families’ functioning in these various contexts. Services are provided in variety of modalities including individual, group, and family therapy, all utilizing a Trauma-Informed lens and evidence based practices. Under the new Reimagine Public Safety legislation, the Illinois Department of Human Service's (IDHS) Office of Firearm Violence Prevention (OFVP) have awarded Sinai Behavioral Health with a grant to provide comprehensive services to youth and adults who are residents of the North Lawndale community and have been directly impacted by interpersonal violence. The RPSA Psychotherapist will provide mental health services (individual, family, group therapy) to youth and adults impacted by community violence and maintain relationships with grant partners, community organizations, and referral sources. All psychotherapists receive regular supervision tailored to their developmental level and licensure requirements, and are encouraged to take advantage of the collaborative and collegial culture of the clinic.

Position Purpose :

The Psychotherapist is responsible for providing psychotherapy and other treatment services that affirm clients’ strengths, broaden their problem-solving abilities, and increase their self-knowledge. The therapist is also responsible to ensure that appropriate documentation is completed that is required for billing and coding, and acts as a mentor and leader to newer staff and master’s level students.

Key Job Activities :

• Conducts psychotherapeutic and other clinical treatment sessions for individuals, families, and groups.
• Completes all required case records and statistical reporting documentation within specified time frames.
• Conducts home visits when clinically appropriate.
• Provides direct service for 70% of work hours.
• Facilitates consultation and outreach to assure the provision of holistic treatment.
• Documents all services provided in a timely manner.
• Participates in ongoing community resource development.
• Monitors treatment plan service delivery as it relates to the internal service providers.
• Performs evaluation for suicide, violence, and case management needs.
• Advocates for and with patients and families in utilizing resources and services.
• Engages patients therapeutically to help them learn healthy aspects of interpersonal social skills, hygiene and grooming and teamwork in social settings.
• Performs individual psychotherapy based on an identified theoretical model (cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal, or other).
• Conducts crisis therapy, family therapy, and group psychotherapy.
• Conducts clinical supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Registry (per diem) Caregivers are caregivers who work less than 1,000 hours in a calendar year. Registry caregivers are employees of Sinai Health System but are typically on an as needed basis. These caregivers may be called upon to cover full-time or part-time caregivers during PTO events or sick leave as well as to provide supplemental coverage. Registry Caregivers are not eligible for Sinai’s benefit programs with the exception for Sick-C, PPO Medical Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and non-match eligible contribution to the Sinai Health System Consolidated 403(b) retirement savings plan.
