The Albuquerque VA is looking for a Registered Nurse Bar Code Medication Administration Coordinator in the Clinical Care Outcome Operations service line!
The Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) Registered Nurse (RN) Coordinator demonstrates expertise in planning for the provision of nursing care and develops processes and programs which will improve the delivery of care. The BCMA Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, management, and analysis of health care date for the BCMA system. They monitor the Medication Scan Failure (MSF) and take action to address deficiencies. The BCMA Coordinator functions as an educator to provide continuous education and in-services to all staff. The BCMA Coordinator utilizes their clinical knowledge to optimize the use of the BCMA software and effectively impacts practice regarding electronic documentation. The BCMA Coordinator possesses excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Nursing Informatics, Computer Application Coordinators (CAC), Nursing Leadership, Logistics, and Biomedicine. The BCMA Coordinator actively participated in facility and VISN BCMA focus groups and committees. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through BCMA knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Responsible for the documented BCMA outcomes at the program or service level. BCMA program level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility.
