Position Summary :

The Associate Technical Production Manager (ATPM) is a key member of Seattle Childrens Theatres Production Department providing both technical and administrative production support across all SCT productions co-productions tours transfers and special events. This position bridges the technical and operational functions of the Production Department assisting in the planning coordination and execution of all technical production elements while supporting administrative processes such as contracting payroll and expense tracking. The ATPM works collaboratively with the Technical Director Production Management team and department heads to ensure that all productions are executed safely efficiently and in alignment with SCTs artistic vision budget parameters and organizational values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

Production Operations & Technical Oversight :

  • Support the Technical Director and Director of Production in the planning and scheduling of all SCT productions.
  • Coordinate the technical realization of scenery rigging automation and stage systems across all shows.
  • Facilitate communication and information flow between technical departments designers stage management and guest artists.
  • Review designer drawings assist with estimating construction and labor costs and help identify cost-saving solutions that maintain artistic intent.
  • Support the safe engineering construction installation and removal of scenic and technical elements in collaboration with the Technical Director.
  • Create and maintain build load-in and strike schedules in coordination with department heads.
  • Oversee the setup and maintenance of production shops and stage spaces ensuring a clean safe and organized work environment.
  • Provide on-site support during technical rehearsals load-ins and previews ensuring technical notes are communicated and executed.
  • Assist with technical documentation including drafting rigging plots and equipment inventories.

Administrative & Departmental Coordination :

  • Process and track production-related expenses payment requests and petty cash.
  • Manage onboarding paperwork for production staff and overhire technicians.
  • Maintain department calendars and production tracking tools in collaboration with the Director of Production.
  • Serve as a point of contact for cross-departmental coordination between Production Marketing Development Experience and Education & Engagement.
  • Support Production Department compliance with SCT policies Collective Bargaining Agreements and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to the preparation of production reports schedules and departmental communications.
  • People & Safety Management :

  • Support and mentor seasonal and overhire staff ensuring adherence to SCT safety standards and respectful workplace practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between production staff and visiting artists or technicians to ensure clear communication and safe work environments.
  • Assist in maintaining and promoting a culture of safety and inclusion in all production workspaces.
  • Partic ipate as a member of SCTs Safety Committee and contribute to the development of safety procedures and training materials.
  • General Support :

  • Attend all design and production meetings as required.
  • Support the Director of Production and Technical Director with long-term planning for facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Provide logistical and technical assistance for special events and educational programming.
  • Contribute positively to SCTs mission vision and workplace culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifying Skills :

    Required Skills :

  • 3 yea rs of professional theatre experience in production management technical direction or related fields.
  • W orking knowledge of scenic construction rigging and stage systems.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills including experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Vectorworks AutoCAD and / or other drafting software.
  • Proficiency i n Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and maintain positive relationships with diverse teams.
  • Preferred Skills & Nice-to-Haves :

  • Experience tracking expenses.
  • Knowl edge of automation pneumatics and advanced theatrical systems.
  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and union work environments.
  • Basic understanding of lighting sound and projection systems.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring technicians interns or seasonal employees.
  • Physical Requirements & Work Environment :

    Location :

  • This position is based at 201 Thomas St Seattle WA in a typical office setting. The work requires on-site presence with occasional evenings and weekends. The site is accessible via public transportation.
  • Schedule :

  • This is a full-time hourly position typically scheduled for 40 hours per week Monday through Friday 9am 5pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support fundraising events and Opening Nights. Flexible scheduling to support work-life balance may be discussed as needed.
  • Tasks May Include :

  • Ability to move materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Navigating office space for meetings and collaboration.
