TITLE : Inclusion Aide

DEPARTMENT : Parks and Recreation

STATUS : Part-Time

PURPOSE OF POSITION :

The purpose of this position is to support persons with disabilities enrolled in Clayton Parks and Recreation sponsored programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Delivers a safe and excellent customer service experience to our residents, members and patrons.
• Enforces and adheres to existing policies and procedures and suggests changes in current practices when necessary.
• Provide support to a person with a disability as assigned by inclusion coordinator and / or recreation supervisor; follow all recommendations from the Inclusion Coordinator regarding "person specific needs," ranging from physically supporting a person to verbal prompts.
• Work cooperatively with Inclusion Coordinator, communicating to ensure success, when it is questionable.
• Inspect program area for safety prior to every class / activity meeting; inform Recreation Supervisor and inclusion coordinator of any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Notify Supervisor and Inclusion Coordinator as soon as possible of request for change in work schedule, absenteeism, and tardiness; find an approved substitute instructor to cover absences whenever possible and inform Supervisor and Inclusion Coordinator of the substitution.
• Keep Supervisor and Inclusion Coordinator informed of all positive and negative information regarding the physical facility, department staff, or general public.
• Request program equipment and supplies from the program Supervisor in advance of the class start date.
• Maintain any discipline specific certifications necessary.
• Complete accident / incident reports when accidents or injuries have occurred.
• Attends all staff meetings or training sessions as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

This position involves sitting, standing, walking and movement requiring the exertion of up to 25 pounds of force frequently and the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Physical activities include bending / stooping, pushing / pulling, lifting, reaching, grasping, lifting and repetitive motions. Also includes the necessity to communicate by talking, hearing / listening. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

May work in an indoor and / or outdoor environment, with possible weather elements. Possible exposure to pool chemicals, insecticides, along with chemicals used on fields and grass. in generally comfortable conditions.
