Join our incredible Operating Room team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center - the largest hospital in Wisconsin, renowned for our around-the-clock heart-care team. We offer groundbreaking care to patients locally and nationally, making a positive impact every day.
Schedule / Hours : Full-time, evening shift, with options for 8 or 10 hour shifts, Monday through Friday, including on-call responsibilities. Expect 5-8 overnight call slots and 1-2 weekend call slots over an 8-week period. On-call hours may vary based on staffing, with a required 30-minute arrival time.
Major Responsibilities :
Keep a clean and safe environment conducive to optimal patient care by following aseptic surgical techniques.Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures, and anticipate the Surgeon's needs during operations.Set up the operating room efficiently for each case and maintain equipment and supply readiness.Act as a Second Assistant when required and alert staff to any equipment or supply issues.Assure the environmental safety and disinfection of the operating room and assist with patient transportation.Possess knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care to patients during surgical procedures.Qualifications :
Licensure / Certification : Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months unless otherwise determined by the department leader.Education : Completion of an accredited or approved Surgical Technology program.Experience : No prior experience required.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
Familiarity with aseptic techniques and surgical instruments utilized in various procedures.Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.Basic computer proficiency.Physical Requirements :
Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.Must lift up to 50 lbs, push / pull 30 lbs, and perform other physical tasks such as bending and standing for extended periods.Exposure to a variety of hazards, requiring personal protective equipment.This job description reflects the general nature and level of work expected, and may include additional duties as needed.
